River Aire Bridge Survey – Kirkstall Forge

Categories: /31 Mar 2015

Contractor, I & H Brown, has been appointed on the £400 million Kirkstall Forge development in Leeds.

Developer Commercial Estates Group (CEG) has already completed a multi-million pound investment into the demolition and remediation of the 23-hectare site. This month’s start on the scheme will deliver a new railway station, access road and service the site by late summer 2015; paving the way for more than 1,000 new homes and 300,000 sq ft of office space.

As part of the new railway and development works an existing bridge crossing the River Aire required a full structural assessment to determine its capacity.

Bridge design experts Mason Clarke undertook the bridge survey in conjunction with Joshua Thomas Access & Industrial services.  Our role was to provide full access and undertake underwater condition surveys of the structures piers.

The JTA dive team executed the works in a safe and managed manner.  By executing the works at low flows the survey was determine more effectively / efficiently and safely.

The works were completed on time and budget, allowing Mason Clarke to quickly and concisely determine the structures capacity.
