The plant

The company intends to develop and install, commission and operate a green power plant using renewable fuel (biomass) capable of supplying electricity to around 50,000 homes in the Newport area. The plant will generate 50MW and will employ the best available technology to comply with the requirements of its IPPC (Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control) authorisation and will be extremely efficient.

It is estimated that the development will take between 26 and 30 months to complete.

Joshua Thomas & Partners headed up the £10m Civils Bid on the behalf of their client.  The works involved the procurement of a Civils contractor to execute this element of works on JTP’s Clients behalf.  Management of interfaces was key to ensure that scope gaps were closed and division of responsibility was clearly defined.  The JTP team delivered their works in line with their clients budget and expectations.
